Sheepshead

Greetings everyone, been monitoring this site for quite some time and read quite a few helpful posts, finally registered and decided to write my first post!! I fish out of Georgetown, sometimes Murrells Inlet, but mostly Georgetown. I usually put in at the South Island Ferry Landing. If there is anyone out there willing to divulge a good fishing area for sheeps It would be greatly appreciated!!(I know that no one likes telling where they fish, or, rather catch fish). I sometimes fish around the jetties, but most times it’s too wild for me out there. Trying to find a calmer area with some structure that holds these fish. ANY help would be appreciated!! Thanks!!

Jetties are the only place ive tried for them. However I’ve always wondered if there were any at the huge dock across from the lighthouse.

I fished that dock about three years ago, wasn’t targeting sheeps at that time, but I didn’t have any luck there and never went back. Could have been plenty of factors that contributed to that particular day being non-productive. Maybe I’ll head over there and try it out this weekend. I often wondered if they would be found as far up as the 17 bridge? Thanks for the reply!!

I heard of ppl catching trout and reds off the old bridge at 17 so maybe theres a sheep or two. I bet north inlet In debidu would be worth trying. Theres alot of deep docks in there.

I have been to north inlet plenty of times (beautiful place), that’s where I have done some of my best flounder fishing. I have never been back at the docks though, they should be a good location for a lot of species for sure. I’ll keep it on my short list of places to go! I take it you’ve fished there before?

Ive caught flounder reds and trout in there. Ive never targeted sheep anywhere other than the south jetty rock tho. I was just trying to think of spots. And im with you winyah bay is no place for boats under 20 foot on most days.
