sheepshead

no fish to report. Went this morning fishing a couple spots on out going in the Cooper and the Wando (water between 51 &
55 degrees), before wind got terrible. I tried Fiddlers, bits of crab, light weight, heavier weight, in the current, out of the current, vertical to pillons/structure, and even on what I think maybe a shale bed(or old oysters), and nothing but, one stolen fiddler and a dog fish. end of report :slightly_smiling_face:.

I am using simple carolina rigs with smaller circle & kal hooks. 3-4 years ago before I worked over seas, I caught a couple really decent sheepshead just fishing over some bottom structure, (think old oyster bed). But since I have been home, I have spent hours there and trying different spots no takers. Still have at least pint and half of fiddlers, so going to try again Wed or Thurs. Willing to spend the time, it’s just not paying off.

Any Suggestions? (wrong tide/bait/no current/heavy current) and even Critics are most appreciated.

Good luck bassn!

There is a lot of good knowledge on the forum.

Keeping my eyes and ears open…and trying to learn.

I went yesterday for a couple hours and only got 1. Been having better luck with using oysters for bait rather than the crabs.

I tried again Thursday around wando, no luck. had a couple baits stolen right befor dark but, that was all. water was down to 49-51 degrees.
my co-pilot for the day didn’t bring jus much luck.

You can still get one here or there. Big ones too. Most fish are that the reefs by now though. Way to get after it though!

I probably shouldn’t mess with the local wild life like in the pic but I wouldn’t hurt him. This guy lets you pick him up let him go and he comes back for more. I gave him a couple shrimp and he knows my boat now i swear. If I put in a Remeleys he comes and hitches a ride for a while until the handouts stop for 30 minutes or so.

Try a shorter leader with an owner cutting point J Hook 2. Good luck.

He’s probably been rehabilitated at a vet or he really gets fed by a bunch of people to be that comfortable with people. I took one to the vet and my vet said when he released him, he flew back to the office behind his car and it took several trips to get him released.

Oddly, that bird reminds me of my dog.
