what is the shelf life of mono and fluoro.
I am re-lining so reels, and have plenty of line, but some of it is a couple of years old and has been stored in a non HVAC room
what say you?

ONLY ISSUE I’VE EVER HEARD OF IS STORED IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT
When you see “Old Glory” waving in the breeze, know that it is the dying breaths of our fallen hero’s that makes it wave.

Put it on a scale and break some. I got line that is older than dirt that still has break strength. Sun is the degrader…and salt…weed…and metal and air and…tournament fishing?
Mine has probably dry-rotted from lack of use.
I’m most concerned about castability and line coil
It will age much faster once exposed to the elements then new line and line memory should change once it’s spooled and sat on tht reel for a few days. I’ve use old spools of mono for leader and caught hell from it but that was using it straight off the spool so it still had that memory it had built for so long and was heavier mono like 40# or so which I would think holds more memory then lighter thinner mono
