I’m no expert on the jigging stuff, just the opposite would be a better description, but I’ve fallen in love with throwing plugs and jigging. Last year I tried out Shimano’s Butterfly Flat-Fall jigs and found out that even a novice liked myself got incredible results. Jig fishing can be expensive at times, especially on cut-offs with these baits @ about $15 each for the larger sizes. So, I found/stumbled on to someone who has some that are just like the Shimanos, but not Shimanos in the 150g size. I’m just putting out another feeler to see if anyone would want a few if I made a bulk order. PM me if you are interested and I can send you some pics and potential pricing. I’m not trying to make anything, just trying to get a good deal and save myself and others some potential cash. I’m hoping to get an order together by the first of February.
Maybe Courtland can get you a deal!?

Andy, if you are on the fish, it won’t take a $15 jig…looks like you know this tho:smiley:.

If you go on tackle direct they have a cool video from icast with Larry Dahlberg… Rather than tying his line to the top of the jig he runs his line through the top loop of the jig then through the bottom loop and ties his line to the ring holding the hooks (makes sense once you watch) what it does though is allows the jig to slide down the line so a big fish can’t use the weight of the jig to shake the hook…check it out
Best price on ALL jigs! period

What Sells just wrote is correct. Filled my jig bag off that site.

Jigging in other parts of the world/country is different to some extent. There are definitely jigs that repeatedly produce good catches of SPECIFIC species. If I am just going “jigging” for whatever…the cheap jigs in Sell’s post make perfect sense. There are plenty of days where we have come home a good 20 jigs lighter than we left. This year has been particularly bad.
BUT, when I find the fish, the ones I am targeting, I will break out specific jigs for those species and NONE of those jigs are on Sell’s link.
Those flat-fall jigs were going for $50 each last fall in California. The tuna only wanted to eat those.
Put a few hundred $$$ of fuel in your $100K boat and get to the spot with the wrong jig. Then tell me what they’re worth.
The key is knowing what principles of shape, materials, speed and action those shapes and weights produce in relation to the species you want to target.

The true key is presenting the bait “in the zone” for as long as possible, some jigs do that better than others.
The knock-offs will always come…after all the work has been done.
Out of curiosity, you mention the flat falls going for $50 last fall in CA, and the tuna only wanting them. You referring to tuna here or the SoCal El Nino bite? I saw plenty of yft out there chase/eat cheap surface iron…

You know as well as I that things get exaggerated on the www…
I am referring to the SoCal boats when the bluefin(specifically) were in range of the day boats. A couple threads on BloodyDecks to that effect. I am friends with a particular lure maker that is a mainstay of the surface iron fishery out there, he had a great year of sales as well.
I was not there, did not see it, just hearsay if we are dotting I’s.
