Has anyone has good or bad reviews about them? I have been thinking of getting a few because the drag on the 4000 is 20lbs when I have a Penn Battle 4000 that has 13lbs of drag. Just wanting to get an idea of what people think of them. Thanks!
I have a Shimano Sienna 4000FB and a Symetre 4000FI. I like them both very much but don’t know how they compare to the Sedona. They have stood up very well through several years of use mostly in salt water. I clean them after nearly every trip but goofed up after the last one and didn’t tend to them for a couple of weeks. They work fine but theres some greenish corrosion stuff growing on the outside. Seems to come off w/ a little work.
My father has a couple of sedona’s I’ve used them a couple of times. He loves them, I thought they were pretty good I remember them having a really good anti-reverse. They have also held up well but he has only used them in fresh water, no idea how they do with the salt.

I have had one for about 3 years and honestly, it has held up every bit as good as my Symetre…for less $.

I’ve got one that I have had for a few years, and it still works great. You just need to spray it off after every use, or it will get some corrosion on it. Great reel for the price.

I also have an Okuma Epixor 40A. It is a little older than my Shimanos and has held up as well if not better. Side by side it’s a little smaller than the Shimano 4000 series reels. I haven’t compared the specs but it’s also been a great reel.
Stick with the Battle. When are you going to use 20 lbs of drag on an inshore reel?
13 lbs is plenty of drag for inshore fishing.
Thanks for all the help!
Rap-i might take the reels out to the beach and has some fun with sharks. More of a pre-caution in my opinion.
PENN understates their drag ratings as well and we have found after doing test on competitive product from various manufactures that they overstate their drag capacity’s. Just something to think about. What are you catching with the 4000’s where you need more drag? Just curious.

Man that is low. I come to expect a little cr*p from Vince or Bonzo, maybe even the occasional dig from Penny but, when you join that crew things must be getting bad. Yes, you are correct, haven’t done much fishing lately but surely not by choice. You know, rubbing it in a guy’s face about not fishing when you are/can, is kind of like picking on the fat kid. I expected more from you Dave.
