Shimano Tranx vs Revo Inshore

Looking for a reel for inshore to throw topwater and jig heads. The Tranx and Revo both look good. Does anybody have any experience with these? Thanks

Based on Shimano’s website the Tranx is built for inshore fishing. I am bias toward Shimano. I have fished about every known brand and I always keep coming back to Shimano.

Have had each and the Revo inshore is nothing special. Now I have had lots of great Abu gear over the years and still love my original Revo STX reels for bass (and inshore fishing) but the worst reel I had from them was the Revo Inshore… That said, I’d go with the Shimano all day and never look back. Just my $0.02.

Chuck D is my bother-in-law and reel knows his stuff. I am glad he piped in.

My 2 cents …

I only use Shimanos in salt. I do think the ‘salt water’ version is a come on though, as if properly taken care of, regular versions will last for a long time (I have some Chronarchs that are over 20 years old in use). They are heavier reels too. Besides, Shimano advertises that Curados are good in fresh and salt. I have used magnesium Shimanos in salt but would not recommend that unless you are anal about maintenance.

I do use my Revos in fresh water only, as l have not found anyone local to service.
With all that said, Im really interested in trying out the new Lews. Havent had one since Childre BB1 speed spool days

I have a Chronarch MGL I would let go for $200 if you are interested. Brand new just doesn’t come with the box.
