I am planning to buy a Shimano Torium 20 (HGA) to be used for bottom fishing in 120+ feet of water. The commonly caught gamefish include red snapper, vermillion snapper, triggerfish, Black Sea bass, amberjack, and some grouper. 8 oz has been plenty of weight to hold on my handful of trips to date, but we all know that with stronger currents plenty more lead will be required. My friend has a Travela rod that he claims as perfection, but his rod is labeled as only a Trevela TV4, a model I cannot find for sale. I suspect my friend purchased his combo a few years back, so does anyone know what Shimano Trevela rod is equivalent to the Trevela TV4?. Also, I believe his rod is the "jigging model,"an attribute I find attractive because I’d like to be able to jig on occasion. Thanks.
More specifics would help you out. I have the TVS60H and it’s a 6’0” heavy action jigging rod. Holds up to 270g jigs I believe and rated 65-200# braid. It’s a nasty, lightweight beast.

Thanks Mike. I’ve got to go back and do a little more research.
Reach out to Saxitailis. He ran the shimano jigging seminar so I would think he could tell you exactly what you need.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Call up the shimano customer service they can help you a whole lot. We have a LOT of jigging rods on the market. Just released the new grappler series as well.

Grappler is an amazing line of rods.
PM Fishcrazy and Saxatilis, you’ll get it straight from the horse’s mouth.
From what I’ve heard and seen, you’re either using a jigging rod for jigging or you’re not doing it right. I have begun to seriously question the relative efficacy of bait myself.
