As CharlestonDiving pointed out, a filed claim on a shipwreck site (i.e., Admiralty Arrest filed in Federal Court) does not prevent access to the site in question; exclusion from the site is rarely awarded by the Court, and only under very certain circumstances. An Admiralty Arrest comes with responsibilities. After an arrest, the Court typically asigns those who filed the claim as custodians of the wreck. As custodians, those that filed the claim have to do their due diligence in informing the public of their claim; sometimes this is done by physically leaving notice on the wreck (e.g., buoy with Court papers attached), as well as placing notice in local newspapers, internet, etc.
All this being said, keep in mind that this is all civil law (versus criminal). One would have to sue and then demonstrate damages from an individual’s activities on an arre

How much sportfishing value do any of you think is left in having the coordinates to this wreck?
That was the point with the silly posts about selling the numbers and then paying someone to take the numbers that skinnee and I were making.
The numbers are pretty much public, and being as small as it is, fishing there is not going to outproduce any live bottom within 5 miles of the thing.
All you’re doing is creating potential interference with salvage and survey activities by going out to this thing anytime soon IMO.
