A number of years ago I took a standard transom mount transducer and embedded it a bed of resin on the inside of my flats boat. The results have been phenomenal, I get a clear picture of the bottom even when running at full throttle and don’t need to worry about knocking the transducer should I beach the boat. I have a spare depth finder and transducer sitting in the garage and was considering mounting it on my aluminum Jon boat. Has anyone tried the shoot through option on an aluminum hull? I know west system epoxy will bond to a properly prepared aluminum surface, just was not sure how the transducer would do shooting through and receiving a signal back to aluminum?
Not positive but I don’t think you can do that with aluminum, fiberglass only.
No idea if f it would work, but, might try sticking it in a puddle of silicone sealant. Would need to be deliberate about no bubbles in the puddle. If it doesn’t work, just peal it up.
