Shorline Fishing Near Summerville...Please??

Hey everyone, just moved here and looking for a place to take my kids fishing on the Ashley, Cooper River or maybe some creek or reservoirs? Not asking for anyone’s secret spot just a place to go. Seems like every time I see some water, its in someone’s yard, not accessible, private land, etc. I don’t have a boat and would just like somewhere to fish offshore without standing on a boat dock. Any directions to some available spot would be great. Thank you

Piers at Folly and a couple in Mt. Pleasant. New public fishing pier at Cosgrove Ave at the foot of the Ashley River bridge. Surf fishing at any of the islands, like Folly Beach County Park, Demetre Park. There are many options.

Thanks for the reply. I have NEVER fished saltwater and don’t have the slightest clue, any recommendations on line, rig, bait? Thanks again!

Harv,
Look up Summerville Saltwater Anglers fishing club.

For freshwater try givhans state park on the Edisto. not far from Summerville off hwy 61 or maybe Canady’s up a little farther.

On salt what Sulcatman said. Don’t go overboard yet, just pick up some cheap rod/reel combinations.

start with earthworms and crickets in the fresh water under a cork or on the bottom, and get some frozen squid or shrimp for the salt water. If you hit some of our piers up, you will usually find several super nice people willing to give advice.

Good luck and welcome to the sight!
