Hit the water around noon today after a tough, busy week. I ventured up the mid-lake off the river channel, started the drift with 3 downrods and 2 freelines, and it was on!! I got 30+ fish with around 20 legit keepers. The highlights were one over 10# and one around 15 on 50 foot downrods. All were released to fight another day. I saw no schooling and did not get a bite on freelines. I was out of bait and cleaning up by 3:30 with my hands cramping up from fighting fish! Yall go get em!
Sounds like a great trip!! Wish I could have been there with you.
I’ve been “on call” for work all of this past week. Coming off “call” tomorrow and hope to get out several times this coming week. I’ve been seeing a little schooling action from the dock. Hopefully a couple of those fish will bite the spoons or topwater for me this week.
If you don’t mind sharing, were you back in a creek or out on a point/hump in the main river channel. I’m thinking about launching up around #4 this week to check things out up there. I just don’t seem to do very good mid lake after the sun goes down.
Tom, I will tell you I did not go all the way up to Ramp 4. That’s a little too far up in my opinion. In a little less than a month after turnover, good ones will get up there.
Fogman- If you don’t mind sharing, where is Ramp 4? I’ve been trying to figure out all the Murray lingo the past few years and have heard that one mentioned a few times.
I don’t see it on the MSC map or my “FishFinder” map. Thanks in advance.
Pretty similar results today. I hit the water between 11&11:30 and was out of bait by 3:00. Freelines worked today with fish up to 9 or 10 pounds. I caught an equal number on downrods at 35-50. I’d give more details, but the MSC tournament is next Saturday. I’m hoping the pattern holds up for my team Hardcore. I love October! Wish I could get out there every day this month.
