It’s been forever, but finally back on the water. Took our new young Pastor out to introduce him to Striper fishing. Picked up our usual 2 dozen herring which were a little on the small size, but that happens from time to time.
Anyway, off to Ballentine Creek on a really nice day. Marked numerous small concentrations of fish, mostly in 20 to 35 feet of water, but never encountered any really large concentrations. While the bite was never “hot and heavy” it was at least rather recurrent. After running out of bait, ran down to the end of Beards Creek and did some trolling where we picked up another fish.
From a “show and tell introductory” point of view, the trip was a success as we caught 12 to 13 on planers, floats, and downrods, but our 2nd biggest Striper was just 20 1/2 inches long. The keeper was 24, however, all the fish were really fat, just like footballs. Just couldn’t get into the little bit bigger ones.
Still a nice day on the water and had some fun.
MIKE!!! How have y’all been? It’s good to see you back on the board again.
We need to catch up. Take care my friend.

Good to see you guys getting back out there Mike.
I also put my boat in recently. First time since Oct and had similar results Monday in the same general area. I was looking for perch, but ran into some small 18/19" stripers off Burton’s Pt in about 35’. No keepers, but still fun on light tackle. Got them on small spoons.
