I had never really felt the water peeing out of my 50hp Yamaha when I flush it out until yesterday. Should it be hot? because mine is…it started to cool down a little the longer I let it run with the ear muffs on. Also, are you supposed to rev the motor or just leave it in neutral?
I wouldn’t rev it up. I don’t think there is enough pressure from a garden hose to sufficiently cool the engine at higher RPM’s. Your Yamaha doesn’t have a connection for flushing with the hose w/o starting the engine and using muffs ?

If you are flushing with engine within 30 or so minutes of running it the water will come out hot. This is due to the engine heat soaking after being shut off.

Yeah, it’ll be hot on a hose. And I’ve been told lack of back pressure isn’t good for motors, so limit RPM to less than 2K …

yes it should be hot, and the cool down is normal. i always rev mine up a little bit just to get the water moving faster. JT, i know the connection your talking about and no, i think the lowest HP yamaha with the hose connection is the new 70’s

nothing wrong with reving a little
less than 2000 is fine, it does increas teh amount of water that gets to the engine.
yamahas usually do not pee hot
less than bath water temp
Thanks for the info guys!!! Really appreciate it!! Chris V…water was too hot for me to keep my hand on the water too long when im flushing it. Hadnt really noticed it before but my dad used to normally do the flushing. I have to put a clamp on the ears to make it pee good. Most ears dont even work, have 5 ears & only one works on there.
