should you use fogging oil when changing plugs

I have a Yamaha 25 four stroke and a 130 honda. Should i use fogging oil when changing the sprak plugs? Thanks for any responses.

I would follow the manufacturer’s recommendation, but that’s just because I don’t know of a better way.

I’m definitely not a mechanic, but if you use something like a Seafoam or other cleaner, would there be alot of carbon buildup and the need for fogging?

I use Mercury Power Tune in each cylinder after taking a compression test. I reuse the old plugs, start and run the engine to blow all the -power tune out, then replace the plugs with the new ones( I recheck compression if there was an issue the first time around)/ If you do a ring free shock treatment, make sure you run it for a while after wards before you put new plugs in.

You would just mess up your new plugs. If you choose fog it, run the old plugs first like spareparts said. I do the seafoam treatment (bottle of seafoam in 1g of gas) before changing the plugs. I prefer it because it should clean out the carbs and clear carbon.

fogging oil is designed for rust protection when storing a motor
