Shrimp Everywhere

Fished Saturday morning and then again in the evening and I’m not sure how we caught so many fish given how much bait is out there right now. Water temps were right around 70 and the visibility was good with the moderate tide swing. Poling or trolling my boat through the shallow water in the creeks and on the flats created a wake of fleeing shrimp. Every time you cast, shrimp would pop out of the water, but we still caught a ton of fish. We did not keep track but easily 20 reds and more trout. At one point in the evening near high tide, I sat along a grass line on the Wando near the terminal and caught 10 in a row tossing a shrimp on a light hook beneath about 18 inches of leader on a cajun thunder cork. In the morning at low, I had 10 reds in a row on shrimp on a jig at the entrance to a creek.

Here is my simple formula for trout right now:

Take this -

Or this -

add this -

and get this -

I kept a couple reds and trout for the fryer and the number of shrimp in their stomachs was crazy. One 18" trout would have at least 5 whole shrimp in its stomach. We managed a couple fish on finger mullet, but shrimp was king!

Great job! The next 4 weeks will be the best of the year inshore.

Nice job! I agree RAD, but I’m partial to Nov/Dec

thx for the report

October is good, November is great, but a warm front in mid to late December is what I live for.
