Are they good for anything? I know you can make shrimp stock. Just curious what else you guys might use them for.

I think Got2go wanted them from anyone who’d give them for making chum.
Chum and stock. That’s all I’ve ever done with them.
I wonder if they would make good fertilizer.

What about bait for minnow traps or pinfish traps? I’ve been saving mine to give them a shot.
SurfFish, yes they make good fertilizer, as do fish carcasses:

I have about 10 pounds frozen if anyone wants them.

I’ve only been able to fish 1x in the last three months and with tons of forced overtime and our third child on the way, it’s gonna be tough to get out there anytime soon. That said, alot of people have asked me about the shrimp heads and chumming. So, here I go, and may the fish forgive me… Chum. Chum. Chum. Keep 'em fresh and throw a few handfuls over the side inshore and everything in the area will show up. My preferred method and a little more work is to mash them up in a large bucket. Just make sure they are fresh. I then mix the “pulp” up with the cheap, generic cat food. Nothing else is needed, but I add Chum Cloud and water to the mix at whatever ratio you like. I then make mini chum blocks out of them using whatever you want. I use old Maxwell House plastic coffee cans, but cut off gallon milk jugs work well, too. Freeze 'em. I use the technique offshore for everything when I’m anchored. I use a minnow trap and homemade weights to lower the trap down to where I want it at. You can watch your graph and bring the fish up to wherever you want them. I’ve done this successfully in depths up to 180ft. I know, why chum if the fish are already fired up? I don’t. I fish without chum first, then use the chum to fire up and pull every fish around an area to come and see what is going on. Fire 'em up, but don’t feed them. The cat food is so tiny that it doesn’t really fill 'em up. The main problem is cleaning your boat up as all of the fish will be spitting up cat food in your boat…it’s crazy. So, if you are a novice like me and have a favorite live bottom spot, try chumming the next trip with the Chum Cloud and cat food mix and see what happens. If anyone is interested in the Chum Cloud, pm me and I can give you some information as to where to get it from for the best deal. And, I have to thank Sellsfish from along time ago about the idea of chumming. I’ve just tweaked it over time to what works for me. Good luck with it and save a few triggers for me!
