Shrimp price of $16

Wife went to the local fresh market here in the upstate and a man with shrimp from SC was $16 a pound , is this not a bit high ? Oh she didn’t get any just wondering .

The wholesale price is running about $11/ $12. Factor in driving it to the upstate $16 sounds accurate. The price should come down a little with the three mile opening last Monday. We’ll see… :frowning:

I think I paid $4.75 head-on / 15 count in the Fall.
I always buy about 100# and put them in the freezer.

Better get some roe shrimp now, the boats are bringing in the browns already. Earliest in years.

Paid $6 head on Friday but they were all over the road on size (Georgetown). He wanted $10 for tails. I hope it comes down.

Price to the boat is finally where it should be. As diesel fuel got higher and higher over the last few years the shrimp price has gone down. Finally up where it should be.

Dang, I’ll have to start shrimp baiting again…

As tough as the shrimp baiting has been the last few years for us you wouldn’t save much money going that route

if that imported crap had not been flooding our markets for the past few years I would hope that prices would have already been close to where they are now…

Local shrimpers should be getting that much. So much better than the imported crap.

Found large locals the other day in Summerville for $15.00. Shrimp is going to be off the menu until that changes.
