I have heard from a little birdie of some good spots to run a seine in St. Helena sound and catch some shrimps. It would be 115$ for the largest legal seine. I don’t mind spending the money if I can replenish my near empty freezer from the bad baiting season in the Fall.
Any advice? I am probably going to buy it regardless because once I get something stuck in my head, I do it anyway.
Have you read the South Carolina laws for pulling nets and the actual locations where you can pull them? There is a difference in the regulations of commercial shrimping and recreational shrimping (net Pulling) Like net sizes vs bags allowed in the nets (or Not) and especially where you can drag a net. Hey, the idea sounds great. I already own a 40’ seine. I would love to go out for fifteen or twenty minutes, get what ever limit I was allowed and go home. The type license you buy dictates what you can and cannot do.
I triple read the regulations and the guy I listed makes a “sc only” seine in the dropdown box under mono net. 40’x6’x 5/8 mesh, well within spec. I have a good friend who bought one and we are gonna give it a try here when the season opens in a few weeks. If it goes good with him, I will order one too.
I have been catching shrimp in my cast net when collecting bait, so I know they are around. It’s just a matter of finding decent sized ones.
Did you get a chance to try out the seine? Ordered one of the “SC” legal nets the other day.

We have used it several times but with minimal results to this point. I was actually planning on doing it again this weekend but we got several inches of rain last night. Your pond is about overflowing right now.
