Shrimp, tide, net question

My Dad once said “don’t ask questions you already know the answer to”, but I’ll do it anyway.

Threw a cast net Sunday from a dock on a little creek off the Wando during low tide and got into some shrimp (all sizes).
Went out with the kids last night about 6:30ish but at high and didn’t catch a thing. Water was pretty far up in the grass.

My guess is the shrimp will follow the tide up into the grass for protection and food then will hug the back at the low waiting for the tide to come in again?
Is it a waste of time throwing a net off a dock if the water’s in the grass?

Also, how important is the sink rate of the net in say, less than 6 feet of water? I have an Ahi Wal-Mart cheapo (not ready for the Black Pearl yet) 6ft 3/8, 1 lb/ft weights.
Thanks

Generally speaking, yeah I think you are right about their movements. If you are throwing a 6 ft net in 6 ft of water, that gives shrimp plenty of time to move, especially with 1 lb/ft weights. The litter critters are quick when they want to be. Although your net is legal for trying to catch bait, make sure you have a 1/2 in. if you decide to bait them.
