So just about every inshore report I see has some form of shrimp as the bait to catch trout or reds(pretty much what I’m after at all times). But, and I’m sure I’ll get hammered for saying this, I have no clue where to get live shrimp. Ok, so I grew up in Miami/Key Largo and when we wanted shrimp we got them at the marina or a bait shop. I have no clue where to find live shrimp. Are there any bait stores where I can get live shrimp? I’m a long way from getting my own… I’m learning to use a cast net and don’t know where to look for them anyway. Also, I’ve seen mention of frozen shrimp being used. Can I get that at Hadrells or some place like that?
Yeah, I’m a newb and I know it but I’m willing to listen, read, and learn. As always, any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Haddrells and the Charleston Angler will have live shrimp. I prefer live shrimp as bait whenever I can get my hands on it.
Somebody told us Wall Street fell but we were so poor we couldn’t tell. Cotton was short and the weeds were tall but Mr. Obama gonna save us all

At low tide you can catch a lot of shrimp on the banks of larger creeks/mud flats, and in the middle of feeder creeks fo a few more weeks until the water gets to cold for them.
I will start at the Charleston Angler and then see if I can follow your advice Rapchizzle. I’ve been practicing the cast net in the yard a little bit so I might be able to add something to the live well if I can get lucky. Thanks for the replies guys!

if you buy them from a bait store be sure to keep then aerated. They won’t last long in bait bucket without oxygen.
hrm… how long is not long? long enough to get from summerville Charleston angler t obushy park? or should I buy some sort of small bucket aerator? Once I get into the water the live well will keep them good to go. I don’t know exactly where the summerville CA is, so I’m not quite sure how long it would take me to get from there to bushy park.

Didn’t I read a post here a while back about keeping Shrimp alive for several hours, by layering them in wet newspaper, and keeping them cool?
