Shrimp

Will be down from Lexington end of June/1st of July to buy approx 50 lb of fresh shrimp for a cookout. Any suggestions of where to buy them and approx cost per lb for large shrimp in 50 lb quanity is appreciated

I believe the season wont open until July. Hopefully under 6$ or 7$ pound tails. I am paying 6.70$ a pound frozen 50# case out of Georgetown right now.

Thanks for the info - so fresh shrimp not avail until July? Glad I asked b4 making the trip. Any suggestions of where to buy in July? We have roadside pickups around here now with signs stating fresh SC shrimp - sure some may have decent product but I’m just not sure about that type of setup.

federal waters open to commercial shrimping june 7. we’ll see what they find to sell.

there will be much more info available to you soon, RMW… bump this post in a week or two.

thanks Coolbreeze for the info on Carolina Seafood. Went down today and picked up 50 lb. My 2 daughters and son in law helped me put them in the freezer. Now I wished we had bought 100 lb. - soo much easier when you have many hands helping. Shrimp were very nice and about 2.30 lb - can’t beat the price!!

glad that you hooked up with the good people at carolina seafood. enjoy your shrimp. maybe we can take a trip down to charleston during the baiting season and i can show you how it is done.

Now that would be interesting. The 2 times I have tried it I got enough for a shrimp cocktail. Once again thanks for the info on Carolina Seafood - good people.

Carolina seafood …long established and will always treat you right. Tell Joanne and Rutledge hello for me if you ever go there
