Shrimping Advice...

Skinneej, don’t forget it’s your kid too (I’m assuming ;-}) and you only get to do this a couple times in your life. It’s stressful, uncomfortable, expensive and pretty amazing at the same time. My kids are 4 & 2 so I understand where you’re coming from. There is a light at the end of the tunnel but I’d recommend you suck it up and leave the boat at home. The good news is boats make kids ptfo.

That is a good idea! She drops you and the boat off at the ramp, goes to the delivery room. She has the baby, recovers a little and then drives back to the ramp, to pick you and a full cooler up! At that point, you could take over the drive home, while she rests a little! You should let her rest some, so she can help you head shrimp before she cooks dinner!

Do you think it's too much to ask her for fried instead of boiling? I wouldn't want to do all of the peeling myself after a long day of shrimping.

You probably should ask her instead of us.

Are you insane? She would probably say "NO!!!"

Are you kidding me!!! All this post does is prove that you DID (not shoulda)know(n) better. This post is equivalent to a smoking gun! Thought you were smarter than this, J…:face_with_head_bandage:

“I’m not a hundred percent in love with your tone right now…”

Man, you guys are so negative on shrimping!

Be very, VERY careful in this matter!

My wife was recently hospitalized and the doctors did everything they could, but she lived anyway.

Just sayin’…

skinneej, if there is a next time/kid, you need to schedule her pregnancy’s, around Shrimp Season! It’s your own (**()ed fault, you even have to ask for advice on this question! I’t won’t hurt you to keep your pecker in your pants, for a month or so!

speaking from personal experience, our middle child was born oct 29.
she went to the hospital on the 28th, for them to induce labor.
kid didn’t come out, and by 4pm the doctor said, they were going to stop, and do something more aggressive the next morning.
she stayed in the hospital overnight.
she sent me and her stepfather out shrimping that night.
we shrimped at james island creek since she was at the hospital downtown, right across from the marina.
if she went into labor, she was going to have her mom call us and we would leave the boat at the marina and walk over to the hospital.
we shrimped a few hours and came in early, and she had me stop and pick up fast food for her, and I stayed the night with her.
we still talk about that, and she laughs about it, it has never been a sore spot at all, but my wife is definitely one of kind.

IF I RESPOND IN ALL CAPS, ITS NOT ON PURPOSE, AND I AM NOT YELLING

Years ago I fished a bass tournment with a guy that wife delivered while we were fishing, she came across the bridge honking the horn on the way to the hospital!

You are WAY over thinking this. Why not just call a cab to take her to the hospital? If you are worried about how much it costs then maybe one of her friends could take her. Once she starts pushing have her call you and you can do face time for the delivery. Just have your buddy throw while you drive the boat during that part.

I think she’ll understand.

It ain’t no mystery…this beer’s history!

We are also expecting, but I (hopefully) have a few more weeks. PM sent
