1st time posting something on this site. I’m thinking of shrimping this Saturday in south side bulls bay. I haven’t been in 10 years and could use any suggestions. I will be entering the bay through Anderson creek.
First of all be careful, it can get very shallow out there. Coming out of Anderson aim for the tip of Bull island and you should be OK.
Secondly; I will tell you just like the guy that took me on my first BB trip. You will see everyone else set up in various locations. Pick one and try it. As always be mindful of others and don’t get too close. I have caught many shrimp while a friend 100 yards away caught only a few. For the most part people out there are very helpful, so don’t be afraid to stop and ask as long as you are not hindering their shrimping adventure.
I usually find a spot on the flat on either side of the channel that parallels Bull island.
Be cautious, good luck, and have fun
Thanks for the info Soggybottom

All good advice right there…
Just remember, Bulls Bays can turn into thousands of acres of 6" deep water and 4’ waves with the correct wind.

We were in Anderson creek this morning along with about 10 other boats deep holing. We tried the channel out in the bay where other boats were but could only get 4-5 per throw. Since ithe tide was out going tide we headed up tide. We found a good area with muddy water along the side of the creek 10-20 ft deep. We started getting 20-40 per throw and ended up within 1 inch of a full cooler in about 2.5 hours. Mostly all large. Overall beautiful day on the water, the shrimp were a bonus.
