Shrimping spots other than harbor

I understand the “deep water next to flats areas” that makes the harbor good for shrimping, but has anyone tried some of the other areas close to the ocean around Charleston/James Island? Stono inlet? Lighthouse inlet? Folly river? I’ve heard Rockville mentioned but don’t know why that would be better than anywhere else near big water.

Not looking for your secret spot, just general advice. Thanks

Look way back thru old post during past seasons and you will get a good feel for any and most all spots in the state.

Take note that the quality of the spot is not always in proportion to the number of post you hear about it on CF. Many places you seldom hear a post about but, if you go there you usually see 25+ boats. Also seasons vary - hot spots change sometimes. Many people are just tight lipped about it - it takes some time on the water to find good places and when you do figure it out - most don’t tell!!

The wind will determine where you go this Sat.

there are lots of great spots to shrimp. the only reason you see so many people in the harbor is because it’s an obvious place to go, and most people are too lazy to scout out their own spots.

trust me. crab bank does not have a monopoly on big and plentiful shrimp.

I believe there was a quote in the late 19th century that went “Go west, young man.” Go south.

Sansman,
If you are going Saturday, find you a nice island to get behind and keep the wind off you. Choppy water is good but strong wind makes for a lot of throws.
