Side-Scan?

Are you using side-scan with sonar, to locate bait, or navigate shallow water, or locate fish on structure? At first it seemed like another gimmick, but I’ve heard some pretty good testimonials from a few. Still, before adding those $, would like to hear more people’s experience with it.

Using both at the same time…A good example is at the artificial reefs, your sonar is basically marking a cone angle straight down and the reef structure may be to the left or the right and the side scan will pick it up and you know which way to steer to get the sonar to pick up the relief.

Thanks John. Do you have Garmin or Lowrance? Any problems positioning transducers? Who installed yours?

I have Simrad. It was installed by Nature Coast Electronics near Tampa Fl. I have so much electronics in a tight space, that a company that specializes in installing that stuff is what I had to have. I had a B164 thru hull, lss-2, Simrad NSS12, Simrad, NSS7, Fusion…etc. Here is a pic.
