hit my topwater spot this AM 630 and had 4 trout on plugs. water pretty high but moving out. Looking for reds along the grass. Not much action red wise. worked spot for hour half or so. Was ready to make the move across the river or up towards guerrins. Decided against it and chose to hit spot that i always neglect to hit. Best decision ive made in some time. Started just using trolling motor to look around and try sight fishing with artificials. Water was crystal clear and as i trolled around i was starting to see mullet everywhere…and big ones. they were in huge schools staying deep in about 4 6 ft water. Saw some mullet being busted on about 50 ft away. saw some swirls on top also so took a shot throwing white 5 inch bass asassins. Fish on just ubder 23 inches but great to score one that way. Next saw swirl in same area all over the bait and bam…28 inch fish. 1 more that way and slowed a little so threw cut mullet because they were too big to live line…nada but got a nice blue crab on with the slowing tide. Why not chunk crab?..zzzzzzz lost it…set hook too soon. tried other half and zzzzzz …engulfed it and didnt miss this one. Nice fish around 34 inches. slowed bit…but started to see bait act up and be pushed again and buddy hooked up as huge school reds go right by us …i throw right behing buddy…im in but lose it. he lands 30+ inch fish…great fight took alot line everytime at boat. School at leat had 100 + fish in it all big fish. What a great day on the water and first time i really had success seeing the fish and throwing at them and actually hooking up. Helped water so clean and flat calm from 630 til 1130 when we left. What a ball today. Nothing like the bite we had today. Perfect day on water. Also lost coffe cup earyly in day when we were into the bite so figutred it was gone…well 3 houes later came drifting back as tide was coming back in…Good stuff. finished up with 5 trout 10 reds 6 to the boat landed. fish were well off the
