For those who have them, does your deep hole net sink as fast as say a 1.5 lb/ft net or do they sink relatively slowly? I’ve only used one once, and it didn’t seem like a very heavy net so I’m thinking they sink pretty slow. I guess what I’m getting at is, if I’m going to buy a 10 ft net, should I get a deep hole net and use it for shrimping shallow water as well?
Mine sinks much slower than a non taped net and in a strong current it moves a lot! but it works well!!
The tape on deephole nets do indeed slow their desent. When you are bait shrimping you use poles which are normaly 16’ long. 2’ in the mud and 4’ in the air leaves a shrimping depth of 10’. Any 10’ net in this depth range is not going to close much before reaching the bait.
