will a 250 grain line get a clouser minnow close to bottom in 20 ft of water? I have been catching stripers jigging spoons and think it would be really cool to take one OTF, What do you guys think?
If you let it sink long enough, yes. I’d go 350 grain though

The 250 grain will work great. Try a wiggle minnow with a 5 foot leader. That stupid fly kills anything feeding in a frenzy. Work on your water haul and remember that they call sink tip “chuck and duck” for a reason!

Thanks guys, will let you know if i have success.
Big fan of the Rio Striper line with a grey/white coyote w/ a silver blade on Lake Murray. I use the 350 grain. 4-5 foot of Seaguar and call it good. Best Fall/Winter fly I’ve used.
Good luck!
