Size and Avilability of Bait

Interesting; plenty of finger mullet, but they are larger ones, haven’t seen but a few of the little ones (trout size). Plenty of mud minnows, good fat ones, and mummichugs, too. Loads of small menhaden. Shrimp are not real plentiful for me yet, but they are there, and medium size already (?) Guess the bigger ones made it through winter after all.
[Penny, you are different, you and your Dad get big shrimp whenever you want them.] I may be learning, think I have found a few shrimp-holes over here close to JI.
That’s my report on bait on the west side of the harbor, where all the fishermen are smart, their women are good looking and their kids can throw castnets by age 3,

Yep, and us transplants from Texas are still having trouble mastering a 4 foot cast net after 2 years. Where is that trot line…

Transplanted Texan trying to learn the Carolina way. Can you run trot lines for flounder?

Mj…go to youtube and look for Jose from the Spanish Fly fishing show instructing on the proper throwing of a castnet…simple and works wonders.
