well got my boat back from the paint shop. more on that in the boat section but i will put a pic up just cause.
in any case hit shem creek dead on low. caught TONS of bait in about 20 minutes and started fishin. a dad and son came by that seemed to know what they were doin and anchored near me. I threw one line out and started to rig another. For about three seconds the first rod screamed drag. About the nano second I layed my hand to it the fish let go. so rebaited and put out all rods. four hours and as many different dock/oyster bed spots later I had as many fish as i arrived with. meanwhile those guys caught a long list of multiple species but they were nice during their humiliation
guess its gonna have to be a FB Link sorry:

Sniper,
If you don’t mind me asking where did you get the paint job done?
yeah not at all. Brett did it and it came out great! his # is 9108743575
carolina rig with a 1/0 circle and another with a 4/0 straight. leader was a steel one with all the swivels and bead ect.
quote:This is your problem. for a redfish rod that will sit in a rodholder rig as following; carolina rig with 1/4-1oz egg sinker, 12" of 20lb mono to a 2-3/0 circle hook. Reds arent too line shy but dont go overboard. a steel leader is asking for stingrays for trout try lighter line and weight, or a popping cork flounder like a carolina rig but with a 1/0 kahle hook, easiest way to hook them too. i strongly suggest a circle hook, unless only targeting flounder. Much better on the fish, and fisherman. When you are getting a bite hold the rod, lift slowly and reel a little until you feel the weight of the fish, then its on. Redfish will not nibble, they hit it like a train and go, so you should hook them instantly, dont set the hook, just gradually lift the rod tip up and reel. Hope this helps, PM me if youve got anymore

the boat looks great, you may need to take up golf.
ok, I was kidding.
if you’re not bit in 10-15 min. MOVE.
also, 4 hours with one of the guides on this site will slash your learning curve.
well i got the gathering bait down and thought i had the rig situation figured out but i am gonna take yakmans advice and try some lighter leaders!
Yea,that wire leader is probably your issue. I only use them for big sharks. If you want xtra leader strength around docks and such dont be scared to bump it up to 4o lb mono/flouro for reds. Just not wire.
