Skunked on Wando

Fished the Wando Saturday and Sunday near Beresford Creek areas. Skunked both times, not a single bite. Saturday used a variety of artificials from DOA Shrimp under popping cork, to white grubs w/ orange tail rigged weedless. Nothing. Water was super clear both days - maybe too clear, I don’t know?? Saturday was in flats area at low tide, so only in about 2-3 ft of water.

Sunday used live shrimp as bait, both on bottom and under popping cork, same areas as Saturday, except moved to a bit deeper water next to the grass on the south side of the creek. Saw a school of reds by an oyster bed, cast into them - and of course nothing. Again, water was clear - could see anchor in ~7’ of water.

Water Temp 53 degrees both days

Any help on anything I was doing wrong would be awesome!!!

Fish don’t move much when the water temps drop so you will have to find them which means moving and covering a lot of water. Try idling along the shoreline and look for pushes or mud swirls from spooked reds. Sometimes they will settle down and you can fish them; other times you will have to come back later or on another day. On the next trip start fishing where you previously saw fish. Also this time of year look for bait. Unlike in the warmer months where there is bait everywhere, anytime you find a shoreline that has bait the fish will not be far away.
