went out at 6:30 am sunday. started fishing around 7. we fished the towers about 15 mins and then my buddy wanted to go over to the far left cove out from jakes. no good there and then went up toward bomb island and drifted back. got a couple of short strikes and caught a large gar. all in all we left around 11;30 with no fish in the boat. i need to hool up with my buddy steelytom. cannot believe that we did not catch one fish. next trip we will fish where i want to fish. after all; it we were in my boat.
steely: help me. help me. i have fallen and can’t get up. i did find my glasses under the couch once i fell however.

we caught two nice keepers on Saturday afternoon right at sunset. Trolled yesterday 4-630 or so with nothing. Did have a hard bend on one of the lines, popped out of the downrigger clip and lost the lure. Not sure if that was the top of a tree or a fish and a badly tied knot by yours truly.

I think we are heading out on Wednesday evening. After that it may not be until Sep. 1st in the morning. Maybe Friday the 31st. it will be some work, but I think I can straighten you out. Although they say you can’t teach a old dog tricks, lol.

If you are going to be on the lake whenever I am you can follow. Not much to it really. I think you got the basice technique down. If you look on your contour map, fish deep points and valleys that push out into the main channel. Just mess with your speed and see what works. Some days they like the bait almost standing still and sometimes you have to be moving pretty good. In march i was fishing the towers at night. We were all over fish without a hit. there was a guy trolling nailing them. I cranked the trolling motot to ten and we started catching fish. Start out with rods set from freelines to 80’ and see where they are hitting. I prefer not to fish deep because i like to catch and release. But now I am feeding Pierce so i don’t mind. I think we all have good days and bad days.

No reason to be, I just hate cleaning them and my wife does not eat fish. It would take me a while to eat that 21# fish. Plus if I do keep one I like to eat it fresh not frozen. Plus the cleaning time takes from my limited fishing time. Once the twins can sleep through the night it will be easier.
i used to hate cleaning fish, but my new filet method isn’t too bad, it used to be, but then i figured out there is no reason to go through the whole, scale, gut, etc. routine like we used to do when i was a kid. now i just cut the filet off, skin it rinse it and done. that big fish took me about 10 minutes with clean up and all. keeping the scales on actually makes the skinning easy, it acts like grip on the the cutting board. the key is to have a very very sharp knife!
also just gut them and cook them whole skin peels off no problem takes 2 seconds

don’t tell me that. At least let me dream. My daughter is very high strung. The only way she will sleep is if we swaddle her arms at her side. Even then she fights for an hour.

I have a boy and a girl. The boy is with me all of the time and he is pretty worn out at night. He gets up with the chickens though. The girl gets up in the middle of the night for a couple of hours then sleeps to 10am. later good luck. The both love to fish though.

It’s all worth it, I am just happy they made it out of the NICU ok. Others are less fortunate. You will see Karma when they are outfishing you in about three years or so. You have ruined your karma by chopping up all those small stripers for chum. 100’s of small stripers that never got to grow up.
Can’t do it. He never chopped up small stripers. Just wanted him to get bashed.
