Skunked

Fished this morning from 8am - Noon. Fished creek mouths and grass lines on the Ashley River. Managed to find some reds feeding on baitfish, but couldn’t get them to bite for anything. Threw top water plugs, a mirrolure, paddlerz and gulp grubs but no takers. Also soaked some quartered blue crabs and cut ladyfish (only fish I had), but no takers there either.
Dern.

That awful, was the water muddy?Did you try near the mouth of bull creek?Seems like I have more luck in the Ashley during the Winter

Did not fish Bull Creek. Was closer to the harbor.
Water was chocolate milk for the most part.

Dang, that sucks that you found feeding fish but couldn’t get them to eat! What do you think it was that caused it?

It happens. Sometimes feeding fish will eat anything that hits near them in the water and sometimes they get locked on to a particular bait and they won’t eat anything else. That’s why it’s called “fishing” and not “catching.” Stay after’em. You’ll get on’em.

God bless the “ignore” function.

All I can figure is that they were feeding on finger mullet and I didn’t have any. I thought about throwing the net to get some mullet, but didn’t want to scare the reds away. Fun to see them feeding, but frustrating to not be able to get them to bite.

Oh man not the skunk. Better luck next time. Been seeing lots of reds busting shrimp. I’m headed out Sunday hopefully no skunk.
