Got a nice inshore slam plus sheepshead this morning on the Wando. Started at 0730, lowtide was at 1030, Water temp 82. First spot was an oyster bar at the mouth of a creek off of a flat. There was a good size school of fish in about 1-2 foot of water. Got 4 reds and a couple of trout on finger mullet on jigs and light hooks/splitshot. Next spot were some Rivertowne docks, managed 3 more reds here with the same rigs and finger mullet. Also one flounder on a finger mullet for the slam. Last spot was my favorite piling on the 526 bridge for sheepshead. Picked up a bunch of fiddlers on DI beach. Got a 2 pounder on the first drop, then a few small ones then a nice 6 pound fish to finish off the day. There were lots of boats out there working the shallows, especially the southern corner of the mouth of Nowell Creek. I pass that spot on every trip but never fish there, it has to be one of the top pressurred spots on the lower Wando. The bite was much better than last time I was out about 2 weeks ago. My top 3 pressured lower Wando spots, sunken drydock on Nowells, corner of Nowells and then flats between Rathall and Horlbeck. Wando Terminal Flats used to be in the top three but I dont see as many people there and the fish are a bit tougher there than they used to be (at least this winter, I dont fish there in warmer weather).
