Being that I am always looking for ways to save money and love to make things, I decided to make some mounts for the slide trax on my Ride 135. I had some blue, 1/2" starboard so I cut pieces to fit the Scotty rod holder mounts I had. I rounded off the corners and rounded over the edges on my router table. I used stainless knobs leftover from a bimini top project to tighten down the whole thing to the slide trax and made the pieces that actually slide into the trax out of some leftover aluminum I had. I am pretty pleased with the way it came out.
Mounts before and after drilling Scotty mount holes.
The bottom of the mount, routed to give the nuts holding the Scotty mount on enough clearance.
The Slide Trax mount w/Scotty mount attached.
Here it is installed on the boat. Fits great, hopefully it will work well.
I bought a piece 18" x 38" off of Ebay for $16.00. The seller said it had “slight scratches” but I have not found any. It cuts, sands, routs, etc… with regular wood working tools. I have even turned pieces of it on a wood lathe.
Waterville, there are aftermarket track kits (Yak Attack is one) that I am reasonably certain you could mount on your Tarpon. Talk to DolphinD at Time Out Sports in Mt. P, he can probably hook you up or steer you in the right direction.
