Started fishing in around 250’ with the fleet and had about 3 short strikes that we were all pretty sure were very small fish. The traffic on the radio was bleak so we made the call to push out deep. Put lines in at the 226 and didn’t like the water so we pushed picked up and ran another 15 miles out and found a floating dock in several thousand feet. NO FISH! There were a few micro triple tail on it and oceanic triggers that we fed frozen shrimp to. Andy even took a break from the slow fishing and claimed the dock as his own.
After we were done goofing off, we picked up and ran back in to the ledge and finally found fish in ~200’. Several doubles was all we needed and we had 4 nice fish in the boat. Biggest of course hit the senator 114h. Green was the only color they wanted but sadly the sample size was not large enough to be statistically relevant.
Congrats to Kari for her first dolphin and grouper!
Well well…

See you later Andy!

She caught this and we all thought it was a big AJ. Well done on the butterfly!

Got freight trained 8 times, because that’s how many jigs I brought… Time to go shopping. Those 300 gram jigs are awesome.

My back got burnt… I asked Kari
Nothing like a nice, calm day out deep. Had a ton of fun! Thanks again. Let’s get after those groupers sometime soon
Bummer about the bronzer situation though

I checked the forecast yesterday afternoon and it looked marginal for my boat, so instead of getting it ready, i went and had some fun with some friends. Wokeup today and the weather report looked gorgeous… Was it as good as it looks in your pictures out there? Super jealous and kicking myself for not splashing the boat today.
Glad you got out. I am still awaiting my return to fishing. Maybe someday soon.

Someone must have cleaned out that floating dock section before you got there. That thin should have been holding every baitfish, dolphin and triple tail for a 10 mile radius.

I saw knot @ work posted a pic of a floating dock that was free floating in Shem Creek earlier in the week on his Facebook page. Looked almost identical, hmmmmmmmm…

Jordan, great report looks like you had an adventure. should have towed the dock around for trolling opportunities.
