slow goin on the stono

fished the high yesterday, trolled grubs on two miles of shoreline, in perfect conditions. missed two bites, and nothing to show for it. I usually tear up the trout in these conditions, but not today. Saw some activity as I was ready to turn around, sight casted to a red on the surface and got the bite. Fish on for a minute, got pulled around, then bent the hook and away he swam. No more cheap jigheads for me. Fished the same area for a bit with no luck, then paddled back to the truck with the falling tide, adrenaline was still high from the fight, so it was a fun and scenic trip, even if I didn’t eat trout for dinner. good exercise, too.

Where’d you launch?
I put in at Edgewater last Sunday, but way too many coats cruising to make fishing enjoyable.

There is nothing - absolutely nothing- half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats. Kenneth Grahame

yeah, i’ve been yakfishing there 4 years now, strictly late afternoon high tides, and had many good days with the same technique. made it all the way to the stono ferry dock on the opposite side of the river and turned around. thats where i hooked up. screw those redcoats. seriously though, no need to kayak anywhere around here on the weekends. or boat for that matter. the boat traffic this year is phenomenal. maybe gadsenerrrahhredfishville.
