Slow Year?

Production this year for inshore fish has been off for me by a good amount compared to last few years. Is this just me, or are other people having slow years? Seems like the unusually hot April which was the hottest ever on record might have affected things going forward, maybe?

April was hot, but May and June not so much. Lots of fresh water though.

Has to be something as most of the guys I’ve talked to say they have experienced the same. Was just wondering what people on this board thought.

Less hatch due to improper venting of breeders.

Yes this year sucks !!!

Spoke to someone at SCDNR recently and they said redfish numbers are down, both in their sampling and also in reports of catching from anglers.

51, 54, whatever # it is per day moving into Charleston

Been in the fishing industry almost 19.5 years. In the past 5 years I have seen the fishing pressure probably increase quadruple. The # of guides has kept up with the insane growth and increase in general fishing pressure. By all means they have just as much right as you and I do to be there (although I am very proud of what the family name has devoted to the fishing community here for decades, I have no further right than the next person)

Now combine those growth #'s with stagnant fish limits for the most part, technology making fisherman far more proficient far faster, and a vast increase in the # guides harvesting coolers of fish a day (well within their legal rights to do so, so please do not confuse with blaming guides. I also make a living derived from the same resources ultimately, just like a fishing guide) … I will leave the math and pondering to someone else…

pretty much been skunked the past few weeks, as for the year, yes, it has been slow compared to the last few years.

Ya know, it must be nice living in Neverneverland. Remind me to come visit you, when I need a break from reality.

Like Pops always said. “Son it’s a good thing most people can’t fish, there wouldn’t be as many left for us.” Wise old man.
