sluggish at WOT

C60 TLRV (1997) 2-stroke Yamaha. I have had it for 6 years now with really no complaints. When I first got it, it would lose power if I put the throttle all the way down; but if I backed off just a smidge it would run top speed just fine (and did so for years). Seems like over the past 3-4months that “smidge” at the top is getting bigger as to where it will lose power if I push the throttle into the final quarter of the throw. And when I say lose power I mean it will slowly die down to near cutout. Any ideas? Otherwise no skips, no coughing, no sputtering, no extra smoke, no other issues. Thanks.

I would first guess it is flooding out, but could also be opposite, but still points to the carb initially. My old Mercury has a really touchy float height preference in the carb bowl for instance. Might have a fuel filter clog/water seperator if its running too lean, or is pickng up a little water at full flow. May also be able to check if there are any adjustable jets, but be sure to mark them before you try to adjust, so you can return the adjustment to the prior position if nec. Good Luck

I would guess carb, but could also be a timing linkage on the side of the cdi unit
