I have a small craft, and there is an advisory Friday. Are the swells as bad deep in a creek or just as bad as on the open river? Also, has anyone seen a decline in the amount of hits on a cork popper? Went out Saturday and got 2 nibbles on cork. First cast with a carolina rig gave way to a nice Red in about 10 seconds… How far from the bank/grass line should I anchor off? I anchored about 15 foot from the line and it felt like we were on top of the fishing hole.
It all depends on how wide the creek is. As long as the creek is not too wide and has something shielding it from the wind you should be fine. That being said if you see a sudden decline in the weather and have a gut feeling its going to be bad HEAD IN. A couple hours is not worth the chance in my opinion. Also make sure your landing or dock is close to the creek you are fishing out of. Ive had bad things happen when going back to the landing on a choppy day in my jon boat. Good Luck!
