I am looking to take a very basic beginner class on 2 stroke small engines . . . the purpose behind this is to get some general knowledge on motors (outboard in particular), how they work, and to be better able to assess the situation if something were to go wrong while on the boat. I know very little about outboards and how they function. I understand that it takes time and experience working with motors to full understand how they work and how to fix them. I hope to one day get there, but for now, I would like to get my foot in the door and take a beginner class.
Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas? I looked at the course list at Trident Tech and didn’t see a small engine class, but I may have missed it.
I know this may seem like a big task to take on, but I am just trying to be as prepared as possible when on the water, inshore or offshore. I really appreciate any input.
