Small World

Landed in NY last Friday afternoon and had some time to kill before anyone expected me, so I did my normal routine of heading from LGA straight to White Castle and then I stopped by the piers at Jones Beach. Got talking to the guy running the bait shop and after hearing I was from “down south”, he called over to “Country Billy”, one of the guys who hangs out at the piers. He turned out to be from Ashville, but had years ago spent 7 years living in Lugoff before heading up there to find work after Sandy.

Funny guy as he “colorfully” described Columbia as being the hottest ****ing hell hole he ever lived. The only good thing he had to say was they did have this river that ran right behind the zoo where he caught his first striper ever.

I was hoping to make it out to Montauk and get some striper fishing in on my cousins boat, but the wind was blowing the whole weekend.

I got a friend at work wants to go out tomorrow eve if the weather holds, but not sure what to expect. Anyone do any good over the weekend?

I got out yesterday from 9:30 AM until around 12:30. Slow bite, but I got my 5 and only 1 was short. Biggest was around 7#. I fished downrods on a 70 foot hump just off the bottom near Spence.
