I always have people asking me to smoke chickens, turkeys, and Boston butts, or they ask me how to. So I desided to make a quick video to show how simple it is. For the 4th of July I smoked 4 whole chickes as you’ll see in the video. They turend out absalutly awesome! Sorry for the hillbilly ascent. Hope this helps anyone that’s thinking about getting into smoking meat. If you haven’t I encourage you to try it, you won’t regret it.

I’m not the best at talking on video. I was having to slow down my talking a bit so I didn’t let any dirty words fly, or say anything crazy. Guess im a little camera shy. I should have pounded down a few brews first, then I would have been fine. ha ha

Dude… ya did good! I’ve been using my UDS for about 5 years now… painted in Garnet & Black of course… LOVE IT!

Heck yeah! The paint has come off of mine, I used the cheap Wal-Mart grill paint. I may have to steal your idea. Garnet and Black would look good on it this coming football season. That’s when I do the majority of my smoking. :sunglasses:

Very cool video. I’ve been wanting to learn how to make one of these. How far away is the flame from the chickens? I think orange and purple would look a lot better than garnet and black though.

Id say the rack is 2' from the wood. If you paint yours orange and purple, it might let you down for 5 years in a role. lol

I love my UDS! I’ve done quite a few boston butts and had it run 12-14 hours without needing to do much of anything. A couple Thanksgivings ago we threw it in the truck and took in to visit family in Kentucky to help with dinner. If you haven’t already, look up Atomic Buffalo Turds, and give them a try.
