Smoky Shrimp slaw and crab cakes

Came across this recipe in a ooollllld cook book…looked good…thought I’d give it a try and it will definately be a repeat!

heres what you’ll need…

for the slaw part

1/2 medium size head cabbage cored and shredded
1/2 small head of purple cabbage
3 celery stalks washed and sliced thin
3 tablespoons of green onion
3 tablespoons fresh parsley leaves

1/2 lb bacon cooked in oven o grill rack unitl crispy

3 tablespoons olive oil
1& 1/2 tablespoons chopped garlic
1 large lemon juiced
1&1/2 tablespoons SMOKED Paprika( can be found at piggly wiggly/bilo)
1-2 lbs peeled and deveined medium shrimp

combine first ingredients in a bowl and place in refrigerator to keep chilled

cook the bacon and set aside

In medium bowl add the olive oil, garlic, lemon juice , “Smoked paprika” and shrimp…pour into saute pan and toss over medium heat until the shrimp are cooked(5-6 minutes) and set aside to cool.

Dressing for slaw…

1/2 cup mayo
1/4 cup sour cream
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup cider vinegar
1 heaping teaspoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon sea salt
1 teaspoon course ground pepper
1 teaspoon chopped garlic
1 teaspoons celery seed (optional…I added this in)

place in a blender or bowl and blend/whisk together

pour over the cabbage mixture/add in crumbled bacon and shrimp mixture and toss( I draie dmost of the liquid off of the sauteed shrimp and hit with another little dash of the smoked parika)

This was a really pretty dish and was terrific…a definate will fix again!!
