We left the North Edisto river yesterday morning with the intention of Red Snapper fishing but the trip didnt go as planned. The weather report we read said the seas would be at 2.8 feet but anyone out in the ocean yesterday knows it was clearly not at 2.8 feet. We kept going though up until we were in 60 feet of water when one of our props slipped to a point where we couldn’t even use it. Luckily this happened within half a mile of the Edisto 60 reef so we limped over there and threw anchor. This was not our first choice of spots but we didnt have a lot of options so we fished there for a few hours while we sat in the “2.8 foot” waves. We caught a mixed bag of bottom fish but mostly just small BSB. The only keeper BSB we managed to hook was sadly just a head when it came up thanks to a barracuda. Our biggest catch of the day that came up whole was a 17 inch White Grunt. After a few hours we decided to start making the slow trip back in. We tried to make the best of our 7-8 knot crawl back in by throwing out some trolling gear but we didn’t have any luck on that. Two and a half hours later we pulled up at Bohicket Marina and ate at reds while we waited for the rain to pass before we made our way back to our dock.
This was our big catch for the day and we got some weird looks in the creeks when people saw one of the motors trimmed up.
Well at least you brought home a meal or part of one. We went out if HHI Saturday morning and was thinking it was going to lay down but ir only picked up. You know it’s not good when you hit the bottom of a swell and don’t see the other boat you were tracking. Must have been the day to loose an engine we had alarms going off and could not find what it was. Being 45 offshore is not fun on one engine. Made the executive decision to run both until one quit. Got lucky and made it in but still could only run at 19 do to the seas. We have a 27 ’ glacier bay. Glad you made it back in safe
If misery loves company we had a similar experience Saturday. Managed to find some good bait for a change and headed to numbers in 80ft. Shortly after getting anchored the electronics alarm goes off and the system restarts, only without any of the 200+ waypoints we have saved. Fished that spot for a while a caught a few BSBs and beeliners then headed in. Maybe next year.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

yea especially with the seas saturday, you would have needed 4 kits because you sure would have dropped a part or two and probably a half dozen wrenches
