Snapper Saturday!

Nice! How deep?

That one on left is a silk snapper.

Maybe the one on the front right too? But a Snapper none the less!

…Politicians aren’t the “Oldest Profession”, but the results are still the same!!!

very nice guys!

Nice catch! Nice boat!

Set the trap boys, we going to pass through them again!!

It does look like a silk or yelloweye in the pic because of the apperance of a yellow iris, but it was without a doubt a red. A few of the other fish look like they have yellow eyes in some of the other photos. I guess the flash or sun caused a glare making it look yellow in the pics.

We took all 6 carcases to a DNR check-in site where a biologist recorded lenght and sex data on each fish and removed the olliths(sp?) to help determine age. They double check the eyes there to make sure they are recording info on the correct species.

Awesome day on the water with a great crew…aside from the snappers we caught a nice gag, 2 kings (20 and 32 lbs), and a few amberjack and cudas to stretch the arms of a few new anglers we had on board.

Capt. Jason DuBose

Cook to know and good that you took them to the DNR. I remember Sellsfish or someone on here eating a record silky that they thought was a red and only learned about it after they posted the pictures here.

Very nice, Mmmmmmmmmm, snapper fillets.

What did the kings bite?

Kings bites came on choaker pogies on down rigger fished at 40 ft

We saw these guys at R7, but we didn’t catch anything worth mentioning. I’m still a little chubbed from their boat. Most beautiful yellowfin I’ve seen.

Good job Jason, looks like a fun crew.

Thanks Ross. Give me a shout when you get a chance to let me know if you are going to be able to make it down to Stuart that first weekend in December.

Most people get “2footitis” not “11footitis”

Brianh,

I don’t own the 42 Yellowfin…just lucky enough to captain it. I still have my 31 Cape Horn.

I like the Flir Cam option!!!

awesome! Can’t believe you let that big fella from Greenwood on the boat. He’d be a good one to have around if boarded by pirates!

Jeff,

Yeah, I imagine Pete would be a good one to have around when sh#t goes down.
