I have been fishing the past month pretty regularly. I find what i believe to be my first honey hole that I actually discovered and had great results for the first three times I fished this location. However, last 4 times I have fished it, I am not able to land fish. I get bites every cast, but unable to land fish. I am using frozen/fresh shrimp on a carolina rig. I am letting them sit to hook themselves, trying different methods of setting the hook, all with the same result. I have pulled a few to the boat, and have tried different size circle/J hooks, just wondering if someone can help me out on the best method of pulling these reds in my boat. What size hooks should I be using for inshore Redfishing? Am I hooking shrimp up wrong?
Thanks for any suggestions.
I’d bet the bait stealers have moved in.

You wont need to try ways to set a circle hook, if its a redfish he will do it for you.
Sounds like the pinfish are in.

Just for fun…when the little guys are really pissing me off, I swap my ‘redfish sized’ hook for a ‘crappie sized’ hook and a little piece of bait. You will find out what is stealing your bait, and you may luck up and get a small croaker, sand trout or pinfish that you can use for live bait. Leave the big baits out though, because lots of small baitstealers do attract the larger fish. It is just fun for me to catch small fish rather than no fish sometimes. Use a light rod and have fun with it. Good luck.

You are just feeding them and making them healthy for breeding

When I have been switching up to small hooks with shrimp, I have been catching quite a few small spot, I believe. I didn’t realize spot were so abundant around here. If only they were decent size, I might take some home.
I use 2/0 plain shank j hooks for all my fish to answer your question
yeah the stealers are back caught some in Shem Creek off the yak the other day
