Snorkeling

Anyone done any diving or snorkeling around? I was hoping to find a piece of structure to maybe see some fish. I’ve only been up that way a time or two but from what I remember the viability in most places is pretty good right?

Ya ya ive seen that but there are obviously accidents, there are thousands of sharks swimming around people at the beach, along with attacks every once in a while but it doesn’t stop people from piling in the water.

I just want to know if anyones done it and if its worth it.

Can’t compare Sharks and Gators. When you are in the water with very little of you above water, you look like food to gators ( Dog, Deer or other animal )and they will come to check you out.

I dove in Moultrie years ago doing part of a dive certification. Visibility wasn’t as bad as I thought, I’ve actually given thought to doing more diving out there and trying to locate some of the deeper plantation house sites.

Anything in particular you want to look at? I wouldn’t mind going out there again. Scuba would be better than snorkeling.

I dove for mine there too. It was like diving in mud. My gauges floated in front and hit me in the face and I (**() near pooped my wetsuit

I’ve only been up there a couple times but the visibility seemed like it would be good? Is this a wrong assumption? Diving in mud doesn’t seem to fun

Depends where you go, and what the bottom’s like.

Where I went had a hard sand bottom, and visibility was decent 15-20 feet down with a light.

I’d definitely like to do it again, there should be some interesting things to be found.

Go to youtube.com and type in lake Moultrie diving

Most of the lake would be fine for diving. The dude who lost his arm was snorkling in shallow water near signs that said “No Swiming” due to high population of gators. I have a house in Bonneau and haven’t seen a gator anywhere near my property in over 40 years. There are other parts of the lake infested with them.

A friend of mine is an EMT. He was one of the responders to the man that got his arm bit off. He said the guy had a $100 bet that he wouldn't swim out and touch the alligator. Well, he touched him. Didn't go so well.
