Took the oldest youngen to squirrel hunt this a.m. after letting the sun rise and that was a confirmed Bust. The creatures of the trees weren’t moving but did see a doe on the move traveling through the swamp. Had a little hope considering I had seen a few squirrels on the move yesterday afternoon but it was not happening for us. Plan B was to take her bowhunting this afternoon so we waited till the last minute to go so she could stay warm as long as she could. Found a heavily used trail and threw the pop-up together and settled in by 5:20 p.m. Ten minutes later a few squirrels came out in front and to our surprise 2 deer came in on us directly behind us at about 25 yards and fed outta sight. Go figure. But a first snowy hunt for both of us was great just having her back in the woods again. Yes it was extremely cold when we went and even colder when we got back to the vehicle.
Youngen Style!!!
Nice. Was planning to hunt deer youth day, but we couldn’t get there from here Saturday.
