Any recommendations for the best soft shell crab sandwich around town? One of my favorite times of year when they are in, but no restaurant stands out in my mind for the hands down best.
My house…but sorry to say I don’t leave left overs on this as they are my favorite!

Haven’t had their soft shell but the food I have tried is good. Two Boroughs Larder http://twoboroughslarder.com/ is another place to try. Not sure of many reputable people selling soft shell sandwiches because they are so expensive. The Glass Onion http://ilovetheglassonion.com/ will do it if you ask. I would love to hear what others think.

Marvin’s Seafood on Dorchester has had ss crab sandwiches since Friday, they were doing two per sandwich and a lower price, but now (Wednesday) just one little crab on there for $5.99 with a side. Either way, I’ve already been there 3 times, and planning on it today for lunch. They aren’t whales like Sellsfish’s and the sandwich is just a battered fried crab on white bread. For me the bread soaks up the excess oil and ends up in the trash.
The Marvin special is a frozen chinese crab…not local or live.

Peeler crabs are about done here for this season. Daddy ly had. 38 yesterday in his traps…the crabbers only get a dollar each for them so it’s time to switch pots back to regular crabs. Livingstons in mcclellanville has “peeler tanks” where you can go see the process if anyone’s ever interested…and the. Crabs there are four dollars each…and you can pick the ones you want…tw graham restaurant in the village. Has some nice dishes with them now…and Sandwichs are one of them. I’m just sorry this isn’t a year round thing…and alwjays look forward to spring and peeler season

Aghhhhh…now that’s just WRONG,! Killing a girl on a date!! Lol
Have never stuck a crab while gigging…really…I’m telling the truth…guess you’d have to be careful too to make sure it was a legal size before sticking it…sells fish could probably eyeball it and tell…but if you aren’t sure…but for someone else…if you’re not sure…be careful!

No need to stick it, just dip it up with a dip net and put it in the cooler. We usually dip quite a few stone crabs while gigging too, sure don’t want to gig those. Dip them up, break off a claw and turn them loose.

Well we went out and tried SeeWee’s soft shell…it was very good! They also offered it sauteed but we each got the fried sandwich.
Sells - I’ll have to come by and pick up a few from you and try to saute them myself. You have any in this week?
I bring them in on Thursday for the weekend. I have three on the counter now
